Meditation: Ground Yourself at the Beach

The beach is an amazing place that is good to visit to ground yourself.  When you have had an amazingly busy week why don't you take the time to walk along a beach, walking through the water, feeling the sand between your toes, the sun on your skin, the breeze on your face.  Research indicates the ability to connect with nature has significant effects in your ability to reduce stress and for emotional regulation.

Take the time out for yourself to increase your ability to cope with the everyday by taking deep breathes in through your nose and out through your mouth while sitting or walking at the beach.

Feel the sand between your toes, the breeze on your skin, smell the fresh clean salty air as it passes through your nostrils into your lungs.

Take time for yourself to just sit and let the day be washed away.  Let the stress flow away from your body into the earth below you.

Imagine yourself happy, at peace, completely calm.

TAKE THE TIME TO ENJOY YOUR LIFE!!!

Watch the boats bobbing in the water.  Listen to the sounds that they make.  Listen to the wind swirling past your ears.  Allow yourself to feel your surroundings. What you can sense around you. Focus on the temperature. Is it cold? Is it warm?  Can you feel the softness of the sand under your feet or the graininess of the wood from a jetty you may be standing on? Take time to feel the objects in your environment. The more information that your senses can observe the more you will be able to totally enjoy the experience and remember later on.

Take a photo so you can remember later how you felt while you are sitting here.

Take time to watch the sunset as it comes up or goes down over the horizon. How does the light shimmer on the ocean? Is the sun bright? What how the suns rays expand into the surroundings.

Take some time to enjoy watching the clouds slowly pass by and the patterns of the sun's rays that shine through the clouds. Take notice of the number, shape and colour of the clouds in the sky. Breathe in the tranquility and peace of your surroundings. Take some time to just simply sit and enjoy what you can see around you. Feel the pleasant sensations within your body. Notice where you feel pleasant within your body. Enjoy this sensations.

Watch as the waves crash along the beach. Take notice of the white foam or peaks of the waves as they crash along the shoreline. Listen to the sounds of the wave as they make their way up the foreshore. Take notice of the trees, the grass, the logs, shells, seaweed, and any other objects that are in your surrounding. Feel the objects in your environment. What do they feel like?

What does the bark of the trees feel like? Is it stringy? Is it firm? Is it hard or soft?

What does the lapping of the water feel like on your feet or legs? Are the waves gentle against your feet? Is the water cold? Notice if there is seaweed in the water? Are there any little fish swimming near your feet?

Notice how far you can see. Does the beach stretch for a long distance? Can you see the end of the beach? Is the beach bendy or is the beach straight? Notice if there are any undulations in the sand. Notice if there are any rips in the water? What colour is the water in the ocean?

Take some deep breathes in and smell the nice salty air. Feel the air going in through your nose, down the back of your throat, and into your lungs. Notice the temperature of the air. Is it warm? Is it cool? Is it hot? How does it feel on your skin?

Take some time to acknowledge what you see, hear, smell, feel, and taste.  The more you can become aware of your surroundings the more you can develop your groundedness.

Take the time to breathe, feel, and just be without any stress or tension.

Let your entire body Relax! Your Mind! Your Emotions!

Breathe in Calm..... Breathe out anything not calm.

Breathe in Relax..... Breathe out anything not relaxed.

Breathe in Safe..... Breathe out anything not safe.

And most importantly HAVE FUN!!!
